Description: This specially designed tour takes you deep into the cloud forests surrounding Lake Atitlán, one of the best places to observe the iconic Resplendent Quetzal. Alongside this magnificent bird, you’ll encounter a variety of highland species, explore pristine nature reserves, and enjoy the scenic beauty of Guatemala’s most famous volcanic lake. The journey begins in Antigua Guatemala and concludes in Guatemala City, offering an unforgettable birdwatching adventure.
Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival & Antigua Birding
- Arrival in Antigua Guatemala and hotel check-in
- Afternoon birding in a nearby reserve for Blue-throated Motmot, Black-headed Siskin, and Bushy-crested Jay
- Welcome dinner and trip briefing
Day 2: Tecpán & Biotopo del Quetzal
- Early morning transfer to Tecpán for highland species, including the Pink-headed Warbler
- Breakfast at a local lodge
- Continue to Biotopo del Quetzal, one of the prime locations for observing the Resplendent Quetzal
- Guided afternoon birdwatching walk
- Overnight in a mountain eco-lodge
Day 3: Biotopo del Quetzal & Transfer to Atitlán

Day 6: Return to Guatemala City & Departure
