🗓️ Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival & Birding in Antigua 🏛️🐦

Arrive in Antigua Guatemala and check in at your hotel. Enjoy an afternoon birding session in nearby reserves, searching for highland species such as the Blue-throated Motmot and Bushy-crested Jay.

Day 2 – Flight to Flores & Yaxhá Birding ✈️🌿

Take an early flight from Guatemala City to Flores and continue to Yaxhá National Park. Explore tropical forest trails and ancient Maya ruins while searching for the Black Catbird, Slaty-tailed Trogon, and Bat Falcon. Enjoy sunset birding from a temple viewpoint before staying overnight in Flores.

Day 3 – Tikal National Park: Full-Day Birding 🦃🏛️

Begin before sunrise with birdwatching around the ancient ruins of Tikal National Park. Search for the Ocellated Turkey, Orange-breasted Falcon, and Keel-billed Toucan. Continue along jungle trails and explore forest clearings, lakes, and canopy viewpoints for flycatchers, hummingbirds, and parrots.

An optional evening walk offers opportunities to search for owls and other nocturnal wildlife.

Day 4 – Deep Jungle Birding & Uaxactún 🌳🐦

Explore remote rainforest trails around Tikal before visiting Uaxactún, an archaeological site surrounded by excellent birding habitat. Search for the Great Curassow, Lovely Cotinga, and White-whiskered Puffbird, along with other tropical forest specialties.

Return to your lodge for the evening.

Day 5 – Final Birding & Return ✈️🐦

Enjoy an early morning birding session around your lodge, taking advantage of the final opportunities to observe Petén’s tropical birds. Transfer to Flores Airport for your return flight to Guatemala City.
