🗓️ Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival & Birding in Antigua 🏛️🐦

Arrive in Antigua Guatemala and check in at your hotel. Enjoy an afternoon birding excursion in a nearby reserve, searching for the Blue-throated Motmot, Black-capped Siskin, and Bushy-crested Jay. Finish the day with a welcome dinner and tour briefing.

Day 2 – Tecpán & Biotopo del Quetzal 🌲🐦

Depart early for Tecpán to search for highland species, including the Pink-headed Warbler. After breakfast, continue to Biotopo del Quetzal, one of Guatemala’s best-known reserves for observing the Resplendent Quetzal. Enjoy a guided afternoon birding walk through the cloud forest.

Day 3 – Quetzal Birding & Lake Atitlán 🌳🌊

Begin before sunrise with a focused search for the Resplendent Quetzal in its natural habitat. Look for additional species such as the Emerald Toucanet and Highland Guan before traveling to Lake Atitlán. Enjoy an evening birding session near the lake.

Day 4 – Rey Tepepul & Santiago Atitlán 🐦🏞️

Visit Reserva Natural Rey Tepepul early in the morning, exploring its diverse forest habitats in search of the Azure-rumped Tanager and Rufous Sabrewing. Later, visit Santiago Atitlán and enjoy the surrounding cultural and natural scenery, with optional birding around Cerro de Oro.

Day 5 – San Buenaventura & El Pilar 🌺🌲

Spend the morning birding at San Buenaventura Reserve, searching for hummingbirds, tanagers, and motmots. Continue to Finca El Pilar, near Antigua Guatemala, for an afternoon birding session and an optional evening search for owls and nightjars.
