This multi-day birding package takes you to some of the region’s top birdwatching locations, where highland endemics and migratory birds thrive. Guided by expert birders, you’ll navigate scenic trails and discover the incredible avian diversity of Guatemala’s western highlands.
Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival & Introductory Birding
- Arrival in Quetzaltenango and check-in at hotel
- Afternoon birding in urban green spaces and nearby nature trails
- Target species include the Bushy-crested Jay and Black-capped Swallow
- Welcome dinner and tour briefing
Day 2: Fuentes Georginas Cloud Forest
- Early morning birding at Fuentes Georginas, a well-known cloud forest reserve
- Target species: Pink-headed Warbler, Wine-throated Hummingbird, and Black-throated Jay
- Midday break and lunch near the hot springs
- Afternoon exploration of trails for Highland Guan and Ruddy-capped Nightingale-Thrush
- Return to Quetzaltenango for overnight stay
